Caltrans Seeking Public Comment on Inyokern/Ridgecrest Pavement Project

INYOKERN / RIDGECREST – Caltrans District 9 is seeking public comment on its proposed Inyokern/Ridgecrest Pavement Project from Feb. 15 through Mar. 22, 2021. Currently in the planning stages and being funded by Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, the project will repave SR 178 E from the SR 14/SR 178 E intersection, through Inyokern, Ridgecrest and end at the Kern County/San Bernardino County line. This stretch of SR 178 E is showing signs of distress and cracking. Repaving the road will create a better driving experience for motorists and cyclists and defer the need for major maintenance projects. Other features of the project include culvert repair, sign and light replacement and American with Disabilities Act (ADA) infrastructure upgrades.

SB 1 invests $5.4 billion annually to fix roads, freeways and bridges in communities across California. SB 1 investments are focused on fix it first projects, repairing our aging infrastructure.
